Luella is a gorgeous dress knit in the round from the top down, with a gorgeous lace yoke and hem, the dress is so easy and flattering to wear and can be easily dressed up or down.
The pattern comes with instructions to knit this dress with cap sleeves (pictured), 3/4 length sleeves and long sleeves giving you plenty of options no matter what your climate or occasion.
The large Stocking Stitch content of this dress means it knits up relatively quickly (not to mention makes great TV knitting!), but the lace yoke and hem also keep it interesting to knit and stunning to look at.
Lace weight (or a very light fingering weight) yarn is recommended for this dress so that the skirt drapes nicely and is not too heavy - you could also get gauge with a fingering weight or 4 ply yarn but please be aware that knitting the dress in a heavier yarn may make the skirt stretch in length.
The lace yoke and hem patterns are in charted form only.

A gorgeous dress with an intricate lace yoke. Worked in the round from the bottom up, with instructions to knit cap sleeved, ¾ sleeved and long sleeved options - all included in this one pattern making it versatile and great value for money. Knit yourself a cute short sleeved version in cotton for the summer and a long sleeved version in wool for the winter.
The pattern also includes the instructions to knit the dress with two different hem finishing styles – a pretty folded picot or a rolled hem. (see La Primavera Top pictures to see the rolled hems on the pink jumper).
You can use any fingering weight or 4 ply yarn for this top. The pictured dress was made from a 100% cotton yarn – Barka Menta 170m/50g.
The 32” size dress is pictured on a model with a 34” bust (3.5” negative ease) this is because it was a cotton yarn with a lot of stretch. In a wool yarn i would suggest only going with the suggested 1.5" of negative ease.
